Commission welcomes international experts to explore a rights based approach to the National Performance Framework
The Scottish Human Rights Commission (the Commission) is today (October 3rd) welcoming leading international experts to Scotland to discuss taking a Human Rights Based Approach to the National Performance Framework.
Working in partnership with the Scottish Government Performance and Outcomes team, the Commission has arranged a series of high-level meetings bringing together leading experts from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner, the Danish Institute for Human Rights and the Scottish Government’s National Task Force on Human Rights Leadership. These meetings aim to engage a range of stakeholders on the “what, why and how” of taking a human rights based approach (HRBA) to the National Performance Framework (NPF) and the development of human rights based indicators.
The aim of this day is to facilitate an increased understanding at all levels of government, and within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Network and wider civil society, as to the value of and practicalities involved in embedding and fully integrating human rights and SDGs within the way Scotland measures national progress.
The day will consist of three separate meetings, each with a specific target audience and varied but related objectives, hosted by Judith Robertson, Chair of the Scottish Human Rights Commission, with speakers Nicolas Fasel, Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights; Birgitte Feiring, Danish Institute for Human Rights; and, Prof. Alan Miller, Co-chair of the Scottish Government National Task Force on Human Rights Leadership.
